Cctv quality metropolitan line

Hi, bit of a random question, but I thought I'd see if anyone knows.

Is the cctv on the Met line any good ? Had an incident last night where some one got his penis out on the train. I saw him and we had a bit of an altercation. Reported it at Baker st, but didn't have time to hang around as I was heading over to Paddington to get the last train back to South Wales. Emailed the btp today to say I'm willing to give a statement if he did get caught up with.

Just wondering if this is something worth following up properly with London underground and the btp. If the cctv on the trains is good then I will try and follow up. If the cctv isn't great, then it's probably not worth it I suppose

Definitely follow it up. There’s a big push at the moment with regards to unsolicited sexual behaviour on the tube/trains and it will, or at should, be taken extremely seriously.

Hopefully, the perpetrator can be identified through his Oyster card and station cctv (which is very good - can’t comment on the S stock) and along with your statement may be enough for a prosecution.

And as above, pull an alarm if need be. Don’t be afraid to use it even if you’re not too sure in these type of situations.

Station CCTV at Baker St should be more than good enough to catch this creep (a good description reported to the BTP is usually dealt with as a priority) so always report such incidents - it's been mentioned above that such behaviour can be the tip of a very dangerous iceberg. Get him nailed now.

The recording of in-car cctv will be of good quality, the in-cab viewing monitor is of poor quality for detail.

I totally agree with following this up. This pervert must be caught and caught quickly.

The individual may not have been using an Oyster card but if he paid for his ticket (assuming he had a ticket) and paid for it by card, it would be possible to trace him that way. In terms of pulling the handle, the OP stated he was heading on a tight schedule to the last train home to South Wales from Paddington, otherwise I agree with this or text the BTP if in an area of cell phone service.

Many years ago - a good friend had the unwelcome attention of a flasher on the Northern line south of Tooting (she was a nurse , in uniform , heading home - so she made some pithy demeaning comment to the person and told the guard when she got off , who buzzed up the driver on departure and arrangements were quickly made for a welcome committee at Morden - the train having been held outside for a few moments)

Feedback from BTP etc , was very good - they had been after this pervert for a long time - so they got him where he deserved to be - in court. So yes - if you can report it.

Appreciate the replies. Totally agree with the sentiments of report everything. However without knowing where the bloke got on and off, it's all down to wether cctv will have spotted him really. I've spoken to the btp, but from experience of dealing with them regularly in work(I'm a guard myself), if there's no cctv there's no case. There's got to be an element of 'picking your battles' , or you'd constantly be talking to the police about some lout or another.

So it's a bit grainy but perfectly possible to identify a face from. So definitely worth following up with BTP.

Also bear in mind in that still there is an explosion in the background, which may have contributed to the graininess.

Still, to the original poster, I am sorry for what you've experienced and would encourage reporting it. CCTV is not held indefinitely so the sooner the report the better the chance of the data being downloaded.
