The truck I got passed by recently doing at least 70 was on a stretch with a slight uphill slope, it was quite an impressive sight. I reckon the limiter had been disabled :D

There are some very worrying stories about truck drivers and haulage firms doing just that. They also fiddle with the driving monitors to make it look like they've been on the road for less time.

Thats getting rarer these days, the new Digi Tacho's are a lot harder to tamper with (but not fool proof) and with trucks getting generally newer these days it will hopefully become a thing of the past!

I certainly hope so to. I take it you're a HGV driver?

I've been overtaken at 70 a few times by HGVs; virtually always it was a UK tractor unit hauling a foreign registered trailer - I assume that's a way of avoiding the cameras?

Thats usually because foreign trailers don't have anywhere to put a numberplate, you can hang them on the handles but if you don't want to risk looseing a numberplate its easier to run without one, if people want your reg that badly they can look at the truck!
