Some Cardiff Bus routes were transferred to sister company Vale Buslines Ltd trading as Capital Links from 6th November. Same management, same depot and same fares. More orange than green which is slightly confusing as to commemorate 30 years of Cardiff Bus they have painted one in the historic "Pick an Orange" livery.

Are Capital Links services busier routes or quieter routes? I would say it's about wages but I can't find any difference between the two.

They are quieter routes.

Any thoughts on why they are doing this? It looks to me that they have kept the core services in the main brand, and gives off the more peripheral city routes. But setting up a sister company is more than just branding.

Councillor Ben Thomas, chairman of Cardiff Bus, said Cardiff Bus had lost some of its passengers for various reasons including the bus station closure, increased traffic congestion and extra competition from other bus operators.

He said some of their oldest vehicles would transfer to Vale Busline, which would take over quieter routes where Cardiff Bus is losing money.

However, bus industry watchers expect that Vale Busline will go on to mount a fightback against rival operators such as New Adventure Travel, which now runs frequent buses between the city centre and several suburbs.

Its just a way of getting around regs.National Express have done it at Stansted Airport.They operate National Express coaches and also run Airport Bus to the same airport.
