I should highlight that this is NOT designed to be a replacement for railmiles. They'll still have more accurate data and I have no plans to intrude on their space. You can currently however, snap-to-rails to get more accurate distances.

I also encourage anyone with feature suggestions to suggest them here.

Feel free to reply if you'd like to know anything!

Cheers

Firstly, fantastic website.

I used to love the heatmap on the previous version. Appreciate there are probably reasons why it's not included. But maybe a list of the most used boarding points, like there is bus types and routes?

Early days I know, and it may just take some time, but I really don't like the new setup. My favourite parts of the site were the 'piechart' and the ability to see how many miles I had done by operator; both of these have now gone.

I'd love to add the heatmap back in a future update, it would be possible with the new system but is currently sitting at a very low priority.
You can add favourite stops by clicking the star on the stop departures screen, then clicking the star on the left to retrieve them.

The piechart has been highly requested to make a return, so it will do so in a future update.
The mileage per operator has returned along with a few other inclusions on the fleet list screens.

Yep, I really enjoyed the piechart and now really miss it. One issue I still have concerns ‘disappearing services’ where whole swathes of routes disappear from bus stances (not limited to, but include Glasgow’s Buchanan bus station) where as recently as Sunday last I couldn’t log my departure or return as two of the stances were blank. Some times they return, other times not - and once missed it is a real pain to remember whether it was logged or not. I checked Bustimes and they don’t show there, for parts of the day yet I can check the operators website and see tracking.

Is this a common problem?

There is now a mileage piechart in your statistics page

Was this Scottish Citylink by any chance?

It was indeed - but earlier in the day FirstGlasgow Service 88 didn’t appear in any part of its route for the first few hours.
I don't know what has been going on with FirstGlasgow but I can help on Scottish Citylink. There was an issue with Scottish Citylink data in the National Coach Services Database which got published on Friday which meant most of their services had no 'current' timetable. This was resolved yesterday on the coach database and got picked up by Bustimes in the early hours of this morning but has not yet gotten into TransitTracker (formerly Busmiles).

Thanks - this certainly isn’t a one-off as it has happened regularly for my Edinburgh journeys. Clearly TT can only work with what info it is given. If the issue is with NCSD, hopefully someone tells them the issue has been spotted and a resolution found!

If the regular issues are with Citylink data, then there is an ongoing debacle with NCSD and Citylink. Almost weekly reports are going back to them saying that something isn't right and no sooner is an issue fixed, another issue appears. It's an ongoing mess which neither party seems to want to resolve. Hopefully that changes but who knows what the future holds.

Just seen this @mak47, thanks. I've set up an account but strangely my local bus service doesn't appear for e.g. last Saturday, though others (all by the same operator) do appear at the same stop. I assume this is a problem with historical data on BusTimes?

Where it all falls down is it doesn’t even default to pre-loaded timetable information, as you’re aware if it shows X minutes to arrival at the stop then it’s using live data but if it shows the time due as XX.XX then it’s running offline. The issue on TT is it won’t do this, most recently the CityLink stops just disappear, and this is most apparent at Buchanan where the stances have no ‘blobs’.

Does the TT Pro version’s Rail info suffer similarly Or is it just buses?
