Bus services run from different depots/outstations on different days

A few examples I can think of -

Around Swindon, during the early 00's at least, Thamesdown (broadly) operated the contracted Sunday service on some of Stagecoach's rural routes, and Stagecoach operated the contracted Sunday service on Thamesdown's town routes.

It was very common, and the same thing happened in Darlington. United Auto operated all the contracted town services on Sunday. Meanwhile, Darlington Transport operated the United service to Middlesbrough.

This may not quite be what @Simon75 was looking for, but in the 1980s and early 1990s, Sunday services in the Medway Towns operated under a completely different series (120-129), with little reference to the weekday routes. These were often cross-town, so areas had direct services on Sundays that meant a change during the week, but direct on Sundays (regardless of whether it made any sense or not).

Although they were all operated by Maidstone & District to start with, the tenders were then won by a variety of operators, seeing such things as Kentish Bus operating in Rainham, or Chalkwell in Gravesend. (I'd have to look up exact details). So different route, depot and company, all just because it was a Sunday!

I understand the PVR of Gillingham depot is now 41 on a Sunday, and all routes follow the weekday alternatives: quite some change in the years since Sunday shopping was introduced!

Elmers End had a small part of the Saturday allocation on route 54 (off the route 12 rota) and the whole of the Sunday service which went OPO on Sundays only in the early 70s (Elmers End operating it on Sundays continued after the weekday service went OPO in 1978 - Elmers End's Sunday allocation later moved to route 75 and in turn to Croydon Garage when Elmers End closed.)

Spot on with this Roger, I was a conductor at Elmers End and the 6 duties we had on the 54 road on Saturdays were a welcome change from the 12's. just for the odd day though, loved working on the 12 road

Currently, or at least since the 31st August 2025, the 2/2A in Bristol is once again operated from Hengrove Depot and by Lawrence Hill on weekends. At least that's my understanding. Hengrove ran it around 2005 as well IIRC when it was the 54.

Up until September 2024, York Pullman (Rufforth Depot) operated the 19 (York-Clifton-Rawcliffe-Skelton) on weekdays, and Transdev (Rawcliffe depot, and previously Fulford depot) operated the service on Saturdays. Before York Pullman, Reliance Motor Services operated the weekday service from their Wigginton service. Since September 2024, the all vehicles on the 19 are operated out of Transdev's Rawcliffe Depot.
