Is there any buses still doing Stoke to Derby?

You could get the Swift from Derby to Uttoxeter?

Then the 32 on to Stoke.

Neither is exactly direct, there's a semi reasonable train service which probably takes most of what market there is for this journey. The two places are quite a way apart with not that much reason to travel between unless visiting friends/family. You wouldn't go for shopping and the small number of car-less people who commute for work probably take the train.

It's an overcrowded 1 carriage sprinter! Having had the pleasure to make this journey a few times, I wouldn't call that reasonable.

Well I did say semi reasonable!

The couple of times I've done it, both on the way to Manchester, the train had two carriages and wasn't that crowded.

Perhaps they put more carriages on in summer or at different times of day, but I certainly recall having a double seat to myself on both occasions.
