Bus Eireann Volvo B7TL-East Lancs

I shall be spending a few days in Dublin from next Friday. I can find most information I want regarding trains and Dublin Bus. However, I wish to ride a Bus Eireann Volvo B7TL-East Lancs. I saw one in Dublin in 2005 and have seen a picture online but do not know which routes regularly operate this type?

I hope to ride one but prefer not to become stranded anywhere, or to have to return to Dublin city centre so quickly as not to see anywhere else much.

Can anyone suggest the best routes to ride one, maybe connecting with an outer suburban train?

Any advice much appreciated, thanks!

They were on Ashbourne routes mixed in with Geminis, best place to find them was near the railway bridge over the river near the Bus station and they were pretty frequent

Thanks Mark. I can see the timetables online, and can pick up some at the bus station.

They also operate on some of the local services from Drogheda to Laytown during the week. Drogheda bus station about ten-fifteen minute walk from train station and bus terminus at Laytown about three-five minutes from Laytown station. Drogheda is the limit of the commuter train services from Dublin.

The Drogheda ones are usually on the Laytown route and the Drogheda town service but you could be unlucky on the day and get an Enviro200 or a coach.

The only route you are guaranteed to get them on is the 103 Dublin-Ashbourne-Ratoath/Kilmoon-Duleek, they share this with the newer B9/Wrights Gemini deckers but as there are only 4 of these several B7s will be on the route all day.

The Dublin based ones are also used on the 105, particularly in the peaks and on a morning trip on the 130. At weekends they will occasionally turn up on the 126.

If you are in Galway there are 2 now based there used on one of the busy city routes while the 3 in Cork are on Park+Ride services and rarely used on regular services.

Thank you for all this extra info. I rode an East Lancs one on route 103 to Ratoath and a Gemini back on route 105. I was allowed to use a Day Return on both routes. Mind you, I had to shun an Enviro 200 on route 105 first.

Also in Dublin, Bus Eireann run some spectacular twin-staircased VDL SB4000 coaches with Berkhof Axial 100 bodies and leather seats, including just over half the service on route 109. I rode out to Dunshaughlin, sitting in different areas both ways.
