Bullet style HST?

The other day on my way down from BTM to Exeter SD, hauled by HST FGW power cars as usual, and at Taunton, the guards changed for some reason. The new Asian/Muslim sounding guard announced upon departure the almost EXACT following:

"Ladies and gentleman, we welcome you aboard this service from London to Penzance to call at Tiverton, Exeter, Newton Abbots, Totnes, Plymouth, Liskeard, Par, Bodmin, Truro, Cambourne, Erth and eventually Penzance. This train is a Fast speed train 20 minutes late {we were actually 5 minutes early!} with 120mph on shortly, bullet-style. Buffet carraige serving food and refreshments toward the centre of this quick service"

I was both shocked and mortified at the lack of commitment and enthusiasm of this conductor that clearly shouldn't be allowed on the trains, if so, should learn that stations sometimes end with Parkway etc, British trains arn't bullets, when we are 5 minutes early we're not 20 minutes late.

Does anybody back me up these conductors should be retrained or fired?

He should have been re-trained IMO - but I suppose it could be called discrimination because of his accent or something stupid like that...

I think he should be retrained, and if he is not an English native speaker offered lessons in English. But for goodness sake, it's a load of rubbish what he said.

NB This is not descrimination, but an eagerness to help this poor gentleman. He shouldn't be taught to lose his accent, in my humble opinion, at all. Assuming he had an asian accent.

Not if you put it sensitively. Complain that some of the guards don't pronnounce stations properly, and can be very unprofessional and that it is not just the ethnic minority. Seems to get a good response

But its this day and age where people take the smallest of things (some if not most of them are not even racist) as racism.

There's one VT guard who I can't stand, had an argument with him once after he told me to move my bag.

He announces "we are now arriving at Cheltenham" when we haven't even passed the Gloucester Triangle, but doesn't announce Birmingham until we have left the tunnels between New St and Five Ways. He is hard to understand and announces "can I see your tickets" over the PA :?

Also insists on making two announcements listing out the full calling points of the train and reads out times like "one nine zero five."

Almost every VXC guard I've come across is easy to understand and friendly except this bloke who is called something like Francis Mbongo-dozey. He's a right... let's not go there
