Currently paying £108 per quarter for broadband + phone line with BT. Sky is around the same. Can anyone recommend any cheaper alternatives, please?

I've just taken out Broadband and calls with Talk Talk (by the carphone warehouse)
for just a bit over £20 per month (so working out about £60-£65 per quarter), I get up to 24meg broadband with a 40 gig download limit and free evening and weekend calls. All you have to do is go in to your local carphone warehouse and sign up, the is a £50 connection fee but that gets put on your first bill there is nothing to pay on the day you sign up.

Mine is cheaper than Talk/Talk
I am with "Utility Warehouse Discount Club"
and I get..
.. line rental
...broadband
...free telephone calls at ANYTIME (24/7)

for around £60-£65 per quarter

and no connection charges.

I mean the OP, does his street have cable? If so Virgin have some very attractive packages. (Plus of course cable broadband is more reliable and higher quality than ADSL.)

Virgin are also doubling the speed* for no extra cost in the coming months as well.

*Some are getting bigger upgrades, see below.

If you’re currently on up to 10Mb, up to 30Mb or up to 50Mb broadband, we’ll double your speed. If you’re on up to 20Mb you’ll be tripled. And for those on Broadband 100, we’ll be boosting you up to a mighty 120Mb – a new benchmark as the UK’s fastest widely available broadband.

I've recently switched to Plus Net, £11.49 per month for Plus Net Extra, then £11.99 for line rental.

More than anything I wanted to get away from all BT's pestering about offers and their constant tinkering with prices!

(I live in a non cable area)

And their prohibitive download limits. Which more and more companies seem to be applying; when I was on O2 broadband it was unlimited, but no longer it seems.

VM don't have monthly download limits, but will penalize your speed if you download too much in a single evening (which is fairly easy to avoid being as it only applies to peak times).

Or P2P of any kind (or so my mates have told me). The implication of course is that Virgin believe P2P is only used for illegal downloading and consequently treats you like a criminal

I use Sky paying around £60 per quarter. (since they bundled 6 months half price). Includes line rental, 20mb internet and free evening/weekend calls.
Internet connection is very reliable since Sky don't traffic manage their network. Can't say I ever notice "peak time" and there are up to 7 people using the network...

I used to have AOL but it died and they couldn't fix it, so now I'm with Orange. It's broadband only and is £12.99 per month.
