My name is Wallace Henning, I'm a UK based graphic designer and I've just launched a campaign to create a reissue of the iconic and hard-to-find 1965 British Rail Corporate Identity Manual. The result will be a high specification, large format book, celebrating the idealism of nationalised transport in the UK. The book is being produced with the permission of the Department of Transport.

You can visit the campaign to read more here: http://kck.st/1XjHYUk

I'm a huge fan of British Rail, so it's an honour to work on this project and hopefully make the book a reality. I hope you like the look of the book and can help us fund publication!

Hi Wallace,

Thanks for the heads-up on this project! I've always been fascinated by this and the other work of the DRU, top stuff.
I wish you all the best in this and hope it comes to fruition.

TTFN,
Ben

Ian Allen produced a book in 1979 called 'British Rail 1948-78 A Journey by Design,. You probably know about it but if not there may be some useful stuff in there for you, although there is the usual 'All rights reserved' notice.

The ISBN is 0 7110 0982 1

There was an earlier edition of this which gave standard examples of the famous "totem" station name signs and other enamel signs with dimensions and examples of the lettering used.
