BRCW Units - a question

Another long pondered question. Forgive me if I don't have the relevant class numbers to hand, but...
There was a distinctive, angular look to most classes of BRCW units (110s?). However, the ones produced for the Western Region seemed to have the same cab frontage as the Derby units, despite, IIRC, being built at the same time. Was there a reason for this? Did WR not like angular frontage?

People more knowledgable may enlighten us here but I assumed the original BRCW and Gloucester units were inspired by the original Derby Lightweights and it was MCW (class 108s ?) that introduced the styling that became generally adopted.

If I recall early designs of First Generation units were of various designs, as inspired by the builders. Classes 101/111 were distinctively Met-Cam, 104/110 BRCW, 105/112/113 Cravens, etc. Class 114 (long frame, heavyweight), 108 (short frame, lightweight) and 107 (short frame, heavyweight) were the Derby built units that shared a common look. This was followed by the Class 119 (long frame, Cross Country units) units built by Gloucester

Suburban units, however, all seem to have been based on the Derby built Class 116 units. Class 117 were built by Pressed Steel for the Western Region (Reading based originally) and Class 118 by BRCW (Bristol based originally). Both Class 117 and 118 had roof mounted headcode boxes, but you could tell the BRCW built examples as the tops were rounded as opposed to the square tops on the Pressed Steel examples examples. Classes 115, 125, 127 built by Derby were all based on the Class 116 design too, but with roof mounted headcode boxes.
