Blackfriars - Waterloo transfer with advance ticket

I have got cheap advance tickets between booked trains on South Western Railway to Waterloo, then on Thameslink from Blackfriars and vice versa. The official itinerary is to take the tube between Waterloo and Blackfriars.

My outbound journey is on SW9136 arriving Waterloo at 12:49 and TL0324 departing Blackfriars at 13:27, while my returning journey is on TL0413 arriving Blackfriars at 16:29 and SW9153 departing Waterloo at 17:05, both on weekdays (there are a lot of availability for the lowest tier of advance on the high peak trains from Waterloo).

However, looking the tube map, it doesn't look nice between Blackfriars and Waterloo, and using National Rail all the way via Waterloo East and London Bridge will foul the minimum connection time due to the unrealistic minimum connection time between Waterloo and Waterloo East.

Is walking between these 2 stations the best way to make the transfer with advance ticket? If using flexible tickets instead, is it a better idea to go through Waterloo East and London Bridge compared to walking?

I regularly walk between Waterloo and Blackfriars. Roupell Street is one of my favourite London streets and always a pleasure to walk.

The walk should take around 10-15 minutes maximum.

Waterloo to Blackfriars

I usually walk via Cornwall Road, cut past the ITV studios then along the river path. Normally takes about 15 minutes. Though the river path gets much busier in the afternoons.
One of our offices was near Waterloo until recently and this was the route I would walk from Blackfriars around 8:15am as it avoided most traffic and only 2 main roads to cross.

Waterloo to Blackfriars

Even when there was only a North Bank exit at BFR I regularly used that route to and from Waterloo, and the South Bank routes will be fine.

That said, I don't see a particular problem with the tube route either (though it is years since I have used it, so TfL may have made the Northern-District interchange more awkward...). It is a moot point whether it is quicker than via LBG, but it will be slightly less walking at Waterloo, if maybe less pleasant.

You can also go down the exit opposite platform 4 at Waterloo (the escalators to Jubilee line and Waterloo Road), cross the road, alongside the SE viaduct then under it (Cornwall Road), second right into Roupell street, then just walk to far end of Roupell Street and onto Blackfriars bridge road, then head towards the river, there are number of small roads which are quiet and easy to get along unlike crowded route along the river.
