Best digital camera?

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a sub-£70 digital camera for an eight-year old?

This is the only thing she's asking for for Christmas, and apparently it must be in navy blue (yuk!), ideally with change left over to buy an SD card.

If you take a look online you can find a vast amount if pretty good mini digital cameras for sub £70. Most of them are simple to use and some can be pretty much bomb proof. Its just a matter of looking around and seeing what you can find.

Memory cards are cheap enough. For example, an 8Gb SD card is £3.95 on Amazon.

I might get a Fujifilm - Amazon have a few that fit the ghastly colour requirement. As to "bomb-proof", well time will tell.

I was going to say that the same thing! I know people who have bought cameras and laptops just because they are pink, no matter how bad they are! hock:

I went on {that auction site} and bought a new samsung 12 megapixel digi for £50 instead of the currys price of £150 (actually 3 of them) for the kids, these were rejected stock because they had some blown pixels on the screen.
All the quality and features of a posh camera for a third of the price.
A year on and they are all still in service (even the 6 year olds and he can break tonka toys) even though the blobs are slowly getting bigger, the picture quality is pretty good and if they get damaged it doesnt really matter.

You can find some right bargains among rejected stock, particularly when it's silly small things.

My dad has got a Panasonic FS41 which is a Jessops exclusive and priced at £69.95 at the moment. Not available in blue though. Only black and the dredded pink. I've used it and found the results to be perfectly acceptable.

Granted, there are some things that should never be pink - cars are a good example.
