Manchester to Barrow service scheduled to leave Preston around 16.30 held "indefinite delay" with passengers dumped onto following Avanti.
At Lancaster it was announced as delayed due to a tree down on Barrow line . No news re onward travel.
Much confusion at Preston it was originally announced as a platform change 3 - 5 quickly followed by anyone for Lancaster to stay on 3. Looked like they decided to get everyone onto the Avanti and hope things could be sorted at Lancaster

If a RRB is being put on then it'd be from Lancaster, no point running it from Preston. If you sent the unit up it'd be blocking the line at either Lancaster or Carnforth. Sounds like sensible operations to me there.
