It appears the Barrhead terminator is a single 156 unit today instead of the usual 4-car 380 that has run the diagram since December?

Is there a shortage of 380s or something else going on?

The usual - curiosity has the better of me! ;)

No criticisms of anyone, the service is still running, just interested as to the reason for the (presumably temporary) change.

Cheers :)

Scotrail crewing issues have been getting much worse in recent weeks. Perhaps the only driver(s) available only operate 156s instead of 380s? Just a guess though.

Hmm, that was the initial thought that crossed my mind.

I've no idea whether this is related, bit this press release has appeared on NR's site.

Network Rail engineers will be working around the clock this weekend to replace a rail bridge off Gateside Road in Barrhead.

The existing structure will be removed and a new bridge installed before engineers re-lay the track.

This work is vital to the long-term reliability of the railway and cannot be delivered without a short closure of the line.

On Saturday June 29 buses will replace trains between Glasgow Central and Barrhead / Kilmarnock. On Sunday June 30 buses will run from Glasgow Central to Barrhead / Kilmarnock / Dumfries. Train services will resume on Monday, July 1.

Changes to ScotRail services while the railway is closed over the weekend can be found at https://www.scotrail.co.uk.

The work will also mean local road closures from 18:00 on Friday 28 June until 07:00 on Monday July 1.

A diversionary route will be in place for pedestrians and vehicles via Graham Street, Cross Arthurlie Street, Kelburn Street and Lochlibo Road.

A footpath under the rail bridge and one lane of the road have been closed since early June and will remain closed until Monday 29 July.

Susan Menmuir, Scheme Project Manager for Scotland’s Railway, said: “We understand the inconvenience this work will cause to our passengers and road users, and we are working hard to replace the bridge as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum.”

Bar the staff shortages, the only other thing I could think of was putting the Barrhead 380 on the "Pink expresses" for the concert. One of the extras is a 4-car 380.
