Barnsley Line at Meadowhall freight train on fire

We currently have five fire engines in attendance at a fire involving a freight train near Ecclesfield Road / Deep Lane.

Please avoid the area to allow crews to bring this incident under control.

Those living nearby should keep windows and doors closed due to smoke in the area.

Although if the line were not closed for engineering, that fire wouldn't be happening! Freights almost never visit that line.

Hopefully this is a minor incident, that post says five tenders attending which seems quite high for putting out a shed fire (!) - but hot weather, dry embankment and fire spreading risk probably means nipping in bud required.

Pictures from the Sheffield Star show that it was old wooden sleepers in box wagons that were on fire.
