I just saw on a FB group a picture of some form of building work at the Banbury Depot site. Does this mean that Banbury Depot is finally going to arrive?
What do you mean? It was never built to the full spec because of changes in HS2 construction timelines. Chiltern won't be able to access Aylesbury depot via Princes Risborough as there is a big blockade due so it will be off the back of that.I just saw on a FB group a picture of some form of building work at the Banbury Depot site. The single line has to be diverted slightly and elevated over HS2. I’m not aware of a “when” but this map explains exactly where:What's the "Big Blockade" that's due then?
As I said above, there was a change in the timeline for HS2 construction so the depot didn't need to be built so soon (or as big). The is a two month blockade of the Princes Risborough line in spring 2023 which means trains cannot get to Aylesbury depot, hence the works at Banbury taking place now.So why does the Princes Risborough to Aylesbury line blockade stop Banbury depot being built?
The latter certainly applies. Is the route to Aylesbury depot via Rickmansworth blocked at the same time, or just too long a detour?
