Ashville new siding

Was just looking at their site on Googly Maps, the aerial of which still shows that I believe is the old yard alignment.
Just noticed it looks like there is a shorter railhead just beyond Dan's gates - Wasn't sure if this was in use or?.....

That’s their old yard they had to vacate around a year ago. Asheville took regular trains in there of stone and sand. The lease ended and they moved next door to the current yard.

The main siding used for offloading in the old yard could hold 18 wagons. The shorter siding marked in red was their secondary line - any train longer than 18 wagons had to be split, with the extra wagons placed on that line and then shunted around later to get them in position for offloading. Thanks very much for that Adrian Barr. Makes a lot of sense because I didn't realise how "near" the operation is, apart from Stewartby. How do trains get route from West Drayton to Stewartby ? via Willesden and Bletchley maybe ?

I had no idea at all that his old and new yards were so close to each other - You will have heard a penny drop as a result!

Yes, they run to Acton Yard first, then up to Acton Wells Jn, along the freight line to Acton Canal Wharf Jn, drop down past the old Willesden Euroterminal onto the goods lines beside the West Coast Mainline at Willesden, then underneath the WCML and past Wembley yard on the goods lines to join the slow lines near Wembley Central and on to Bletchley.

Daniel also talking about a kind of potential rail staff recruitment day, as well as getting fired up about GBRf's 99001 delivery. Also had to cancel a train because he didn't have enough material to go in.
