Are SWR's on board announcements excessive?

Unconfirmed, but PIS to change over the next few weeks on 15x 450 444 fleet, as an update is being pushed. Removal.of.abusive.behaviour, simplification of revenue protection to "you must ensure you have a valid ticket" and only plays at origin station; aswell as a few other tweaks which is a step change to driving down the aural assault. It seems SWR are listening.

If true, this sounds like a great improvement.

Travelled from Waterloo to Dorchester South on Wednesday.

Two annoucements about "please be kind to our team", ensure you have the correct ticket etc. One was played on departure from London Waterloo and I think again at Southampton... it didn't feel excessive this time.
Incidentally I did have a fright at Waterloo as they played a siren then an announcement that due to an incident all passengers must evacuate the station... followed by an announcement that the test had ended! Clearly I missed the announcement that there was a test happening!

Just been on a Kingston loop 701 and the guard had to keep saying ignore the recorded announcements, after Queenstown Road we will be calling at Vauxhall. Strangely when we finally stopped there it managed to say we were at Vauxhall despite refusing to say it on route.

Since the beginning of Friday on every single 701 the PIS does not automatically input Vauxhall and Clapham Junction when the driver configures/sets it at the beginning of each journey. Those two stations can be manually added to the calling pattern, but since it’s only been a thing since the start of yesterday, there are still many drivers and guards unaware of the issue… honestly laughable stuff.

If that's true, might be the worst two stations to drop off the calling pattern! I did see lots of panicked people making their way through the train yesterday! It would have been helpful for the guard to announce where they were on the train*, but to their credit they were on it at every stop once they were made aware, so credit where it's due.

*We were quite a crowded train, so maybe they were in the back cab and can't really make an announcement of where they are...

I have to say going from Dorchester South to Waterloo yesterday, the announcements were fine until Bournemouth when we attached to another five coaches.

From Bournemouth the announcements were incessant.

There was the usual repeated warning about having the correct ticket, my ticket was checked for the first time at Vauxhall.
