Quick question, does anyone know the names of the two types of tartan used in the APT-P?

I was under the impression the tartans were created for BR. But I may have totally imagined it and forgive me if I am completely wrong.

They may well have been, but would still have names (and be registered).

The tartan register did not exist at that time and it was not compulsory to register a new tartan

There was a book about the APT, I suspect that may be the only source remaining for the specifics of the interiors

My oldman worked with the R&D and have seen a name mentioned somewhere.

Give us a few days to go through the stuff i have. You are right though about the Tartan Register as I think the "Stewart Racing" Tartan (from the old F1 team)was the first new one for years.

Was the same pattern not used in the 314's when first built?

Quite different colours, blue, black, and white, not quite like First Class in the APT
Equally, the original seat covers in Mark 3a coaches (Standard Class) could also now be classified as a tartan!

It was a genuine Tartan not one created for BR.I remember an article at the time saying that BR had gone to quite extensive lengths to prove that the clan family had died out so that they could use it.

That interior looks very, very eighties! The red in standard class is a bit daring!
