If you could own, paint & run any 5 locomotives still in existence, which would they be? I'd go for

LNER B1 1306 'Mayflower'-Doncaster Green
EE Type 2 Deltic D9009 'Alcyidon'-Two tone green with white window surrounds & small yellow warning panels
EEType 4 D306 'Atlantic Conveyor-British Rail Green with full yellow ends
LMS 'Jubilee' 45699 'Galatea'-BR Brunswick Green
LNER A4 60010 'Dominion of Canada'-LNER Garter Blue with full valances

Any in existence makes it easy to choose but hard to exclude anything. I'd have to pick the UP Bigboy as the ultimate in steam power, 71000 'Duke of Gloucester' for ruthless efficiency, I'd have a full blue/grey HST set,
87002 in Inter-City executive and finish off with the original day-glo orange TGV. Choices are so difficult and I lament what I've left out, but what a list I'm left with.

class 421-CIG NSE livery(and all other slammers!)
EPB's NSE livery(altogether both designs, and you never heard of one of these moan and not work that often)
class 55 Deltic BR blue (BR's altogether loyal workhourse)
class 33 dutch livery 'CROMPTON'(loyal to the southern up until withdrawl)
'Battle Of Britain'class 4-6-2's southern green(my favorite steam locos, and one of the SR best designs)

most of these locos Southern region, but the 5 ive chosen were not because southern region but some of my favorites that have been withdrawn from service,i could of gone on and on but chose these 5,for the reasons above and many more,

Right after careful deliberation I have decided for..................

1. 86259 (due to it's reliability and overall look)
2. 37003 (due to it's age status within the class and the sheer greatness of it's look)
3. D1015 (based upon performance alone as this loco is definatly something to be reckoned with)
4. Sarah Siddons (Due to being the oldest running electric in the UK and also gotta have a 3RD rail locmotive in there.
5.89001 (who wouldn't)
5.
