Well I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later but Amy Winehouse 27 was today found dead in her flat in Camden.
What a waste of talent and a waste of life. Utterly predictable and utterly avoidable
Drugs...just say no !!

Her later life had bad relationship problems too. She pulled out of a comeback tour not so many weeks ago.

Sad, but after the last few years it looked inevitable when her lifestyle started getting more news than her music.

She was depressed long before that - it's been a long, slow downward curve with the inevitable at the end. It shows how much drink and drugs can damage people.

The modern press just love this sort of person, they're famous for about 2 minutes, build them up, as the latest 'best singer' ever, then turn on them and hound them until something like this happens, with her track record, sadly something like this was gonna happen sooner rather than later...no doubt a hastily put together 'Best Of' compilation is being put together as I write this....

The problem I have with this is the implication that she couldn't help being on drink or drugs by the press. Of course she could. She had a choice not to partake in drink and drugs and she should've understood the risks regarding addiction. The level of blind ignorance on Facebook by those who seem to forget she had a responsibility not to indulge in such a lifestyle is symptomatic of today's society.

As such, I have very little sympathy for her passing, no matter what kind of musical talent, and yes she did have that in droves, she had. I am sorry for her fans and for her family, but if you indulge so heavily in such a lifestyle, you can't be expected to win round sympathy posthumously on the basis of a 'unique' talent.

I would agree with the concensus that her death was inevitable. Though I was not a great fan of her music, I appreciate that her singing was a great asset to the UK.
No doubt the press and record companies will cash in on the death, a sick thing to do.

The trouble is she seems to have been led down this path by a certain individual she was once married to. And I guess by the time she got rid of him she was hopelessly addicted. She seemed to spend a lot of time in Rehab clinics, oh the irony, but never seemed to got off the drugs

I have no sympathy for her, it is currently residing in Norway.

I share your feelings to a certain extent, but I feel sympathy for her in that she had that capacity for self destruction. I also have sympathy for her family, and the loss that they must be feeling at this time. I can only imagine what they must be feeling about their own inability to help her to help herself.

But ultimately, if an intelligent person chooses to become involved with drugs and rejects the help that is available to them, then this one of the possible outcomes of those decisions.

As I said in # 17, the post-mortem is being carried out late this afternoon, but I wonder when the result will be known.

They are apparently doing a post-mortem. That, and toxicology tests are being waited for before the coroner's hearing I think.

The post-mortem has taken place, but no cause of death was announced. The inquest was opened, but then adjourned until 26th October. The results of the further toxicology tests could take four weeks.

Her funeral will now be held on Tuesday and will be attended just by family and friends.

I think I am right in saying she only had two albums, not much to make a best of from, perhaps there was an album in the making they might release (as happened with Michael Jackson).

Microsoft apparently have already tried and have been rightly criticised heavily for it, alledgedly suggesting through their twitter account that people could play her songs as a tribute after they download them on xBox Live.

Addiction to drink/drugs is no more an illness than smoking is: it's a lifestyle choice.

I smoked for nearly 20 years whilst doing my job and I was never told that my addiction to cigarettes was an illness, just people who were close to me persuading me to give up. It took 4 months of 'cold turkey' before I gave up, and that was without some of these frankly bogus remedies such as the 'patch' or the gum or whatever, just with good old-fashioned willpower and anti-smoking classes.

Amy's talent was second-to-none, a pearl in a music industry so dominated by manufactured pop, but she had access to professional help that neither you or I could have. She had a choice to seek this help and chose not to. In the end, her death was extremely shocking but hardly surprising.

That is, if the post-mortem supports the theory that her death was caused by her addiction to drink/drugs which we all still don't know
