Not sure if this has been done already.
You have to start at any station beginning with an A at 9AM on a Monday, then travel to a station beginning with B then C etc. The aim is to do it as fast as possible.
Note:
- You must alight and catch a different train at every station - you cannot continue on the same service that you were on previously (different services hauled by the same train are okay).
- You CAN alight at other stations for interchanges (please note your interchanges)
- Mainline railway stations only - no trams/underground/preserved lines etc. although these can be used to get to your destination. You can also walk between stations in the time set by NRE. You must leave and arrive by mainline train, however.
- There are no stations beginning with X or Z so after W just go to Y and then finish.
- London Paddington (for example) can ONLY be counted as an L
- You can leave your destination after 0 mins (so long as you are not catching the same train) even if that would not be possible. However you can NOT do an interchange midway along a section in less than the recommended interchange time.
You might want to consider that there are only 3 stations that begin with a V - London Victoria and Manchester Victoria are not allowed for V.
An example (though I'm sure it can be bested):
09:12 Albany Park - Bexley 09:14
09:30 Bexley - Crayford 09:33
10:03 Crayford - Dartford 10:08
10:31 Dartford - Erith 10:38
11:03 Erith - Falconwood 11:37 (via Dartford)
11:44 Falconwood - Gravesend 12:25 (via Dartford)
12:37 Gravesend - Higham 12:43
13:13 Higham - Ilford 14:36 (via Strood and Stratford)
14:39 Ilford - Jewellery Quarter 17:45 (via London Liverpool Street, London Euston, Birmingham New Street and Birmingham Moor Street - see I said it wouldnt be very good)
17:56 Jewellery Quarter - Kidderminster 18:26
18:38 Kidderminster - Lye 18:54
19:29 Lye - Marston Green 20:41 (via Birmingham Moor Street and Birmingham New Street)
21:01 Marston Green - Nuneaton 22:02 (via Coventry)
22:20 Nuneaton - Oxford 06:22 (Via London Euston and London Paddington)
06:37 Oxford - Pangbourne 07:17
07:37 Pangbourne - Queenstown Road 09:29 (via London Paddington and London Waterloo)
09:40 Queenstown Road - Richmond 09:58
10:06 Richmond - Staines 10:22
10:29 Staines - Twickenham 10:40
11:04 Twickenham - Upper Halliford 11:30 (via Teddington)
11:44 Upper Halliford - Vauxhall 12:29
12:37 Vauxhall - Wandsworth Town 12:46
13:40 Wandsworth Town - Yalding 15:18 (via London Waterloo, London Waterloo East and Tonbridge
