I came across this huge trackside poster on the Northern Line Northbound Platform this evening promoting Scientology!!

I thought this was a known cult religion that is mostly interested in getting money out of you and trying to get you to buy books and courses that will help to ‘Clear’ your mind and at the end of it all and when you are penniless you may become an Operating Thetan or some such thing.

I understand that Scientologists have a building at the top end of Tottenham Court Road which entices unsuspecting people in with free film showing tickets and trying to sell books on Dianetics but this poster sits uncomfortably with me, so however this campaign came to be approved (probably Global has free reign), perhaps it shouldn’t have been?

Was addressed in a London Assembly MQT.

When reviewing these advertisements, TfL took into consideration that Scientology has been recognised as a religion in the UK by the Supreme Court and religion is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010.
