Acton museum

My Dad would have been 100 in June and was a train driver for 41 years. He started on the Piccadilly line and would have driven 1938 stock and 1959 stock when the Victoria line started in 67-68 he was one of the first staff to move over. I see they have a cab it tour in June at action and my question is will the have a 38-59 and a Victoria cab that my dad would have driven. I did my engineering apprenticeship at Acton works in 71 now. Thanks for your help .

To answer the question.

The LT museum have a complete 1938 stock train at Acton. As well as a 1967 driving motor carriage.

Unfortunately they do not have a 1959 carriage at Acton or Covent garden. The nearest would be at Epping Ongar at North Weald.

Is there anyway to know if the 1938 was on the Piccadilly line and is the 1967 you mention a Victoria line tran. Thanks for your help

The 38TS is a bit of a hybrid unit and is made up of a variety of cars from different trains.

10012, one of the DMs, did work on the Piccadilly several times over the years, but the remainder of the unit never did. The whole train is preserved in a Northern line guise, following its use (as part of a 7-car set) on the Northern line prior to withdrawal.

The 1967 stock is ex-Vic line; no 67 stock cars ran in normal service on any other line.

There is both a 67TS cab, with all of the relevant gubbins added in to allow for driver experiences, and a full 67TS car in the collection.

A single 4-car 1967 Stock was allocated for passenger service on the Central Line Hainault-Woodford shuttle, which was fitted for ATO with 1960 Stock. Units were regularly swapped from the Victoria Line.
Two 4-car units were allocated 1980-1981.
The practice finished in September 1984.

Do you know what line it ran on

That was a Northern Line one - it's actually one of the DMs that was put into traditional red for the final couple of years of service.
