I’m planning a trip to Scotland in October looking to take in some football grounds , and yes I can be based in Glasgow , but was wondering if any of you guys know of cheaper alternatives that are close to railway stations .. for instance I quite often use Stockport when visiting Manchester ...TIA

For accommodation? Plenty of options in the Glasgow area, depends on your budget & your requirements.

If for example all you want is a basic bed for the night, then something like a private room at the Euro Hostel is reasonable priced for a very central location [i.e. sub 5 minutes to Central, sub 10 minutes to Queen Street]

Premier Inns are a plenty and the Alexander Thomson hotel just round the corner is very good looks slightly outdated from the outside but inside and the rooms are is excellent as is the breakfast
