I was just travelling home and was in a rush to catch the train and had forgetting buy a ticket. I only remembered this when I reached the ticket inspectors at my final station so I hung back to buy one on the trainline app - stupidly short faring my journey on the one I purchased. I was then caught by the station staff and received a "Travel irregularity/Unpaid Fare notice" with the issue being "short journey claim" having bought the first ticket on my train-line search in my panic (which was not one valid for this journey). This was the first time I have ever travelled without a ticket and I just panicked. I realise what I did was stupid and wrong and I have definitely learned my lesson but I am wondering will this go any further than the notice which I have now paid - I gave my details and paid the £30 penalty via the online portal.
This was in Scotland BTW. Thank you for any help.

If you have paid the penalty, that should be the end of the matter. There is a chance that they will look through your trainline records to see if there are potential other irregularities, but assuming there arent, this is the end of the matter.

Further to post #2 which I agree with

I'm no expert in the Scottish laws that deal with this sort of thing - but my hunch is that if you have paid the sum they have asked for it wont get escalated to court

Keep a record of your payment and keep that long term along with any paperwork you were given. Head back here for advice if you hear further about this in future.
