I'm making some A stock for a well known train sim game, I'm sure you lot can guess!

I've got to the stage where I'm sorting out the numbers on the individual cars, so I've got some questions, first of all what were the numbers of the sets allocated to the East London Line between 1997 and 2007?

Second question what where the numbers of the A Stock UNDM's? (UNDM's are the Driving motors that were found in the middle of A stock sets and are only used during shunting)

The A Stock only had UNDMs after OPO Conversion and/or Refurbishment when the DM Cabs where not upgraded to the new standard and therefore couldn't be used on mainline duties, hence becoming UNDMs. As such the UNDMs are numbered in the same way as DMs, unlike on, for example, D Stock where an UNDM Is numbered between 8xxx, (D Stock D/E units are numbered 7xxx, 17xxx, 7xxx+1)

(The numbers on wikipedia are pretty right)

And I'll need to check, but as far as I know, any old stock (double ender) could be used on the ELL.

'Single-ended' units, as the majority became after OPO conversion, could operate on their own on the main line if they needed turning via the Watford triangle. Full speed operation from the unconverted cabs continued to be possible because they remained fully functioning cabs, they just didn't have door controls, train radio, PEA/intruder alarm feeds or RPS fitted. These trips would run empty for obvious reasons.

As you say, any double ender could operate the ELL. The ones with leaf scrubbers would have been prioritised for Met/Chesham shuttle use during the autumn but that aside they were changed over regularly.

Thanks chaps, that's answered my question quite nicely. Although the term double ender had me confused for a sec, I thought some of the DM's had cabs on either end .
