So the ticketless of Essex are now corralled onto DOO services instead?
I visit Chelmsford about once a month. Teams of about 20 revenue protection people inside the barrier line, manually checking tickets of exiting passengers, is a common feature in the evening peak.

This is strange as both stations are barriered.

I imagine they short ticket and buy just a Stratford - Liverpool St return because we so rarely get revenue inspectors onboard. Then I'm not sure how they get past barriers at both ends.
To be fair people boarding at Stratford might also be changing from TfL services within the gateline there

Interesting - but I don’t think the fastest trains to Norwich should stop at Stratford and Chelmsford, which have multiple stops.

I would have

London Liverpool Street, Colchester, Ipswich, Diss, Norwich

London Liverpool Street, Colchester, Manningtree, Ipswich, Stowmarket, Diss, Norwich

Long distance services shouldn’t be stopping at Chelmsford and Stratford. Midland Mainline trains to Nottingham - a similar distance don’t stop at places like St Albans and Luton Airport, and Luton.
Although the necessity to stop at Chelmsford or Stratford is probably not there, given the train in front will mean you stop in the middle of nowhere waiting anyway so might as well
