50 Advanced Ticket Options

Sorry in advance for asking about something that will have been covered before.

Looking at going from Haddenham to the Leeds area, there are 50 Advanced ticket options, 25 each 1st Class and Standard Class. Why are there so many? Surely a basket of options, say 3 or 4 to cover various times of day would be enough, So 6-8 in total. All have the same ticket restrictions and by definition are limited to LNER and Connections. Around the £50 mark, they are £1 different in price.


Isn’t so many variants an unnecessary complexity albeit as a customer, I wouldn’t see all these of course so less complex for me.

Advance tickets are sold by algorithm and availability, if you try to book an advance ticket you’ll get one of these fares, you don’t get to choose which one. BR Fares shows the totality of the fares loaded into the database. Obviously for non-advance tickets you can choose specific ones or ask them them explicitly at a ticket office.
