750 volts is the highest nominal third rail voltage anywhere in the UK. There has been a myth since about 1967 that the Bournemouth electrification was nominally 850 volts. This was due to a misunderstanding by a railway magazine journalist. It keeps rearing up. SUBs could run on 750 volts provided the heating and lighting circuits were isolated first.Track voltage was 660 volts orignally. It was upped over time. Some areas are higher than 750 volts these days
