450 Driver Done somthing very wrong!

My friend was at Qeenstown Road today and a 450 to weybridge was approaching the station but was surposed to stop but it was going at fast speed... and then suddenly the Emergency Break comes on it slams to a hault with half in the station half out then it sat like that for 30 mins blocking up the line and all he could see was the driver making a fool of himself yelling at the poor desiro so then.... The Guard comes up and has a chat with the distored driver and then they sit for another 10 mins and then EeEeEe off away from the station an hour late!


Units were 450 015 and 450 012!!

I don't see why the TRTS would take 10 minutes to reset. Seems more like a Desastro fault to me.

TRTS doesn't exist at Queenstown Rd, I'd guess it may have been a TPWS OSS.

Or - continue forward once the 2 minute time out has come off.

Report filled out when back at depot.

Can't believe they had such a delay - major trouble there.

Driver just overshot, it was a mistake, he over-ran and had to slam the EB on leaving the front 3 cars off the platform.

It took so long to sort it out because control had to be called etc.

In the end the driver walked through the train, drove it back a bit from the rear, walked back to the front and opened the doors.

Delay of about 15/20 minutes.

They WEREN'T an hour late.
The driver DIDN'T shout at the desiro...
They DIDN'T just sit there, they took it back and opened the doors.
It WAS, however, a Weybridge service, obviously booked to call at Queenstown Road.

15 -20 mins sounds about right if he did phone the signalman, change ends etc

yeah thats how I imagined it.

You can hit most platform ramps at 35mph - that's most driver's average (Andover 40mph with 2 Bar on the down) but that's with the brake already in.

You could start braking at 40mph but would have to give it 'Full Service' and find all the passengers behind you squashed up against your cab

40MPH halfway down....... a 170 might do it on a dry rail. 4 1/2 Bar in step 3 - superb brake. top:

Might be possible on a dry rail. It is uphill on the down into Brock' (if that makes sense) and thus aids braking. Same for Pokesdown which on the up - although it looks level catches you out sometimes.

Disastros don't like it though if even an ant has spit on the line and will find any excuse to start slipping.
