Why the repaint when there going to LM soon?
-Adam

Similar questions were asked when Northern first did a repaint of a 323 in 2006 (?) - to No. 323233 to be exact. ;)

Anyway, it's nice to see a much needed EMU back in service for Northern. That just leaves the 323 involved in the crash at Congleton to be sorted out then? Although, that one had much more heavier damage than 323235 tbh.

323235, I believe, is a vinyl job.

They'll only go to LM once replacement EMUs have been sourced. Originally intended to be new-build, but it's anyone's guess what will ultimately.

Heard somewhere 333's are supposed to replace 323's.

But then again, the fact that hardly anybody AFAIK hasn't complained about the 333s in Yorkshire so I think that perhaps they should stay there since they're doing a solid job.

Besides, the fact that Siemens (the predicted builder of Northern's new build) has a depot, granted for 185s atm, in Ardwick and perhaps the use of the Longsight depot just a few miles from Siemens' depot would make the 323s current stomping ground an appropriate place for a new build of EMUs to settle into life in Northern's fleet.

Well, that's my two cents on the subject, anyway.
