I'm doing a model railway with these and want to get the liveries right- Does anyone remember when blue/grey 4CEPs first appeared, and blue/grey 4VEPs?

Can't give exact dates, but for CEP's it was at least as far back as 1971, and for the 4-VEP 1973, if that is of any help?

CEP (and CIG) were never plain blue, they went straight from green to blue/grey in the post-1965 livery change as they were "express" stock. VEP were plain blue until 1972, so if you are doing 1960s it will be blue.

There's a lot of detailed information on various pages of this site

Sorry, but all SR units were initially going to be plain blue, even the express stock. I recall it caused some annoyance at the time! The REPs, TCs and early VEPs were delivered as such, and some of the CEP/BEPs (and CORs too) were repainted, plus Hastings units IIRC.

I found a list here: http://www.modelrailforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12068
