I saw a 12-car 450 unit on the Up between Southampton Airport Parkway and Eastleigh today at 13.58. Was that a ECS move from Northam? Or a service train?

Can't find either ECS or service that fits that time in the current Carriage Working Notices, but there are normally a few 12.450s run ECS later in the afternoon.

Perhaps an extra ECS move if Northam have been working on snow casualties?

SWT has/had 1 450 arriving into one of the Southampton loops in the afternoon from guilford I think, and then another from Woking that joined and moving pl2 and joined to the 1450 Poole to Waterloo which made it 12 coaches I think

Indeed, that's still the case* but it would hardly be passing Southampton Airport Parkway at 13.58 though!

Sounds like some kind of STP ECS working to me, as SWT Passenger said, there's nothing in the CWN that matches.

5Y05 12:16 Guildford - Southampton Up Goods Loop
5Y01 13:03 Woking - Southampton Up Goods Loop

Both routed via Havant, join together and then form 5B56 15:45 Southampton Up Goods Loop - Southampton Central, which attaches to the front of 2B56 14:50 Poole - London Waterloo.

I once saw a 12-car at Southampton Central in the Up direction..it may have been about the same time as it was late afternoon.

This is all the normal stuff I can find later in the afternoon...

1555 Southampton to Waterloo is a 12.450, 8 cars from the up goods loop are added to the 4 incoming from Poole.

There's a 1550 ECS from Northam to Basingstoke, to form a BSK - WAT service around 1624.

Oh and there's a 1533 ECS from Northam to Fareham, via the up goods loop from 1607 - 1617. No idea why it does that shuffle through Southampton Central though. Could just be a crew change...
