When I'm driving to work at 4am or finishing a shift at 1am, I don't see these masses of comparitive workers causing traffic jams on our nations highways.
And yes I have to drive to work as I have to be on shift for the 1st train or finish after the last.
Ok I'll bite:
There are 3 main unions in the rail industry:
Train drivers traditionally belong to ASLEF.
Operational (Signalers, platform, track staff) traditionally belong to the RMT.
Clerical staff (Ticket Office, managers, back office) traditionally belong to TSSA.

The only think that gets me about the otherwise excellent Night Riviera service is the lack of charging points in the berths. Unless you have a Shaver to 3pin adaptor (I haven't seen one for years!) it's not possible to charge phones or laptops in your cabin.
Like I said a small gripe that's...
A refusal to obey the instructions of a team leader/supervisor or manager may lead to disciplinary proceedings being taken.
Time of original purchase is taken into consideration, no Anytime to Off Peak changes allowed. Anytime Day Return is excessed to Anytime Return etc.
I also get a large amount of people who are unable to retrieve their pre-booked tickets from the TVM's as the booking number is not recognised. Usually this means the customer has elected to 'Print at Home' and hasn't realised.
I'm not saying the system is perfect, far from it, but a...
[Mod Note - Split from this thread.]
What about the discretion of the individual TOC?
How about say, excessing a Day Return to an Open Return after the validity of the Day Return has passed? I know what the Manual and the NCROC say....
I would be interested to hear your views, PM if...
So please tell me, who is responsible for Print at Home tickets?
What happens if you fail to print them, lose them, use them as a roach in Goa, dog eats them, printer runs out of ink, pdf won't open due to due to the fact you're running a 486 with a dot matrix printer, couldn't be bothered and...
If the fare structure in the UK was simpler then the ticket machines would be simpler to use
The industry cannot win, just today I had a complaint that tickets for travel 3 weeks in advance were not available at the TVM's. It wasn't just a whinge but a full on rant where the words...
The volunteer/coach/competitor passes I have seen are issued on an Oyster and valid for the duration of the games. These tickets have the same validity as a normal Zone 1-9 'season' ticket and are only valid on production of accreditation.
The Zone 1-9 travel cards issued with the Olympic Event...
The day cards are valid on High Speed services, but not Gatwick Express.
Olympic Oyster cards (volunteer/coach/competititor etc.) are valid on Gatwick Express with the normal extension payable.
Taken directly fromn 'The Manual' - Make of it what you will
Q23 - Can a passenger travel on a TOC X train if they are reserved on another TOCs Advance dedicated ticket?
A: No. Dedicated tickets (=TOC X only) do exactly what they say on the ticket. However, during times of disruption...
Advance tickets may vary with operators with counted places (ie SWT/Southern)
It depends on what it says on the 'Route' if the route is '+Connections' or '+Conn' then you can take any train to maintain the connection onto your booked service ie. earlier train, different permitted route...
It's worse than that....
Standard 'Group Save' products are not valid on the Gatwick Express (this also applies to Stansted Express brand as well!)
So a Group Save 3 or 4 Gatwick Airport to Stansed Airport routed Any Permitted would not be valid on Gatwick Express to Victoria or Stansted...
Here we go again.....
To London
Group Save tickets are valid on the 'Gatwick Express Branded Trains' at any time.
Group Save tickets on Southern/FCC services are valid from 09:23 on Southern, 09:32 for FCC.
For 3 or 4 people travelling together on 'Gatwick Express Branded Trains' the fare...
There are also other ticket outlets available apart from the Main station concours:
North Terminal:
Airside arrivals in baggage reclaim, operated by Southern.
South Terminal:
Arrivals Hall (along back wall just after main doors into Public Meeting Area) to the left of Excess Baggage and...
Sighs....
No it isn't, travelling before 09:32 4 people to Victoria on Gatwick Express is £37.80.
4 people travelling to London Bridge/St Pancakes @ £9.90 each is £39.60.
(No-one ever lands at Gatwick before 09.30 or travels in groups of 4)
I could go on, but it seems the verdict has already...
