Tbh I think Scotland has it about right. A good number of lines, each is spread out. So appealing to different areas and different markets. England and Wales, both have lines in clusters which I think will be a part of the issue.

No, they recently gained access to the NCB line and are now running part way back to their old base at Dalmellington. Now called the Doon valley railway.

So it's now, Bideford, Whitwell, Torrington, Yorkshire wolds, Shillingstone in the running. Could have had Scottish industrial rail centre too, until fairly recently.

Reckon its between torrington, Bideford or Shillingstone.

Bowes is a mile and a half roughly, including the rope hauled section too. Or 1 mile for the passenger line. Bideford railway - 500 yards?
