Our new ticketing site is now live! Using either this or the original site (both powered by TrainSplit) helps support the running of the forum with every ticket purchase! Find out more and ask any questions/give us feedback in this thread!
I have two Co-Op stores within walking distance. My loyalty card is only valid at one of them because it is a different co-operative society. The branding of both shops is identical and makes no reference to the operating society.
If I buy a return ticket but get to my destination by other means, then it seems absurd to be required to refund my ticket and buy a new single ticket for my return journey.
The railway has not lost any money in these circumstances; indeed, the return will always be at least a few pence more...
Beware of the apparent benefits of Uber discounts. Even with Uber One, you may still be paying over the odds. I recently received an email offering me 30% off Uber Eats. I tried using this code at a local independent takeaway, and it did indeed give me 30% off. I was still 15% more...
Knowing that fading is a potential problem, I could mitigate the effects. If I were to photograph the ticket on purchase and then use a print of the ticket to scan at gates would I be committing an offence?
I would have the original ticket available in its wallet at all times for physical...
Google Play Store no longer has the search bar on the front page. How stupid is that? There is zero chance that I am interested in anything they are advertising. One of many unnecessary added clicks that I find everywhere.
In general, privatisations were not done with sufficient controls over those taking on the services. The lack of resilience may be a consequence of running at minimum cost, knowing there would never be any serious consequences.
Thresholds should be set so that the delay repay is based on the actual customer experience and not some slightly different technical timing.
Allowing an extra minute or possibly two to the measured timings is just good customer service.
I think it is likely that a significant proportion of passengers who require regular or urgent access to toilets also need assistance boarding.
For these passengers, stopping for toilet breaks may not be easy. Ramps may need to be provided to leave and re-board the train. The station...
I'm currently travelling on a TPE 185 between Stockport and Doncaster. I have a reserved seat booked through the forum using the seat picker. There are no reservation displays on the 185, and no reservation cards have been put on the seats. Is this normal, or just a one-off?
As around 90% of 16 and 17-year-olds are still in education, why should they pay the adult fare at all?
The situation is better than in my youth, when adult fares started at 14. Even then it was a hangover from earlier years, as by then everyone was in education until 16.
Would it be...
Why are there both 16-17 and 16-25 railcards?
As the 16-17 railcard has a larger discount, why would any 16 or 17 year old buy a 16-25 railcard?
This seems to lead to accidental or in some cases, deliberate selection of the wrong railcard as evidenced in disputes and prosecutions.
Should the...
I was told years ago that the pedal in my car that uses the most fuel is the brake. Logically, this is true, but planning ahead is required.
If you use the brake more, then you have put excess energy into the system. Coasting is better where possible, provided that the required timings...
I suspect ticket machines are placed where it is easiest and cheapest to provide power and network connectivity rather than in the most sensible and obvious place for passengers.
Why is signage for TVMs at the station entrance not a mandatory requirement? On most stations, they are easily found, but there have been a number of posts on here where passengers haven't found them or, in some cases, haven't recognised them as being ticket machines.
Closest so far, It is Dinas, a through station on the WHR, formerly Dinas Junction, terminus of the WHR/NWNGR and through station on the LNWR.
This has been dragging on for too long, so over to Richard1976 for the next one...
