Ah,ah. That explains why it is not yet in Avantix.
Seems indeed to be available from next month on fgw destinations from Tiverton to Exeter and beyond (including Barnstaple and Exmouth branches) down to St Budeaux and Gunnislake. Not available on swt network except the two Exeter stations where...
What IS the official definition?
It is sold either on a monthly, 3-monthly, 6-monthly or annual basis (but not weekly like most other season tickets) and available in either standard (at £120) or first (at £180).
In addition, I can only get it to show on the NR website when entering a date...
I have little interest in 1/3 of CDR fares in D&C. MikeWh is right that it is the cheap network area gold card angle that interests me.
My thinking exactly.
Yes, it is a strange animal but it does show on the 'season ticket calculator' section of the national rail website: you get a series of...
According to the nationalrail and SWT websites, there are two types of annual season tickets between Exeter Central and Exeter St-Davids:
a) a season ticket valid 5 days a week (3 weekdays+weekend) at £120;
b) a season ticket valid 7 days a week at £196.
I wondered the following:
1) Can a)...
Well, I did the experiment in the interest of oysterology. So Mile End to Seven Sisters via (Central line)-Stratford-(overground)-Highbury and Islington-(Victoria Line) touching on the pink validators at Stratford and H&Isl and I was still charged £2.40 off-peak.
So, it seems that it really...
I will. Unlikely to be until two/three weeks, though.
My hunch is that it probably is somewhere in between your interpretation and swt_passenger's: the pink validator will read the route correctly but will only price it for the route if a fare exists in the oyster fare engine for such a...
Well, I suppose I could be a guinea pig for that next time I do a seven sisters-mile end trip and I have a bit of spare time: it could be done via: Victoria Line to Highbury and Islington then overground to Stratford then central line to Mile End. This also remains entirely within z2-3 and there...
Don't think so. When touching on the validator on the central line, the machine stated a fare up to then of £1.30. Had I exited at Stratford, this is what I would have paid. So it is the extra leg from Stratford to Mile End that raised it to £2.40
It looks like you are right: the operative word...
At TOM, I exited the tube system, as you have to, and touched in on the yellow one on entering the NR section.
At SRA, there are no validators on the arrival platform from TOM (platform 12). However, there is one on the central line platforms and this is where I touched out. This is presumably...
I can see how routing via zone 1 is generally better given the relatively low frequency of the TOM-SRA service (hourly off-peak).
However, if you time your departure to correspond to a TOM-SRA service, it is actually the quickest route.
I traveled from Seven Sisters to Mile End via Tottenham Hale and Stratford (NXEA service).
I touched in/out at the rail interchanges (Tottenham and Stratford) and the journey was correctly identified on my card as being via these points.
Yet I was charged £2.40 (off-peak), which is the...
I am not entirely sure that one can draw any useful conclusion by reasoning on the basis of the illness of a passenger.
Let us say, for instance, that you are on a London-Manchester train whose first stop is Crewe and that you have a heart attack needing immediate treatment somewhere near...
Thanks, John. Helpful answer. This makes things clearer in my mind.
I am rather bemused by this one. There clearly are situations where walking between stations can make sense (TOM-SVS being one) but Tim Stevens's answer leads to rather startling results. The implication would be that you could...
Thanks, Yorkie. This would tend to confirm my suspiscion that, notwithtanding what the NR and NXEA online fare search engines say, you cannot legitimately route this via TOM.
There is no parallel rail/tube connection between TOM and SVS (via rail, you would have to go down to Hackney Downs...
NFM06 has an SDS at £11.10 for Elsenham to Stamford Hill.
When entering ESM as origin and SMH as destination in either the NR journey planner or the NXEA website, it gives a routing via the Edmonton Green line.
However, if you force them to route via Tottenham Hale, they accept it and...
