Hello again everyone, I have a quick question about pay.
I’m starting with network rail on October 30th and I believe they use the same pay system I’m currently on (four weekly).
My last pay day from my current employer will be 27th October, and ordinarily I’d be expecting another wage on 24th...
Holy smokes! I’m awaiting my medical and I’m in Yorkshire too. Hoping mines not in London too! Seems a bit of an ask to ask you to pay out of pocket to travel to London when you don’t even have an official contract yet.
Hi bud, I’m waiting to get an email about my medical so I’m interested in this too.
For my conductor medical it was pee in a cup, listen to beeps, look at letters from across the room, colour blind disc things and I think a inflatable blood pressure thing on the arm… is that about accurate for...
Fair enough.
Like I said in a previous post it’s mainly to do with the fact that in my application it asked which locations were my preferred locations and Harrogate was slightly further away so I didn’t put it down so I was a little surprised to be offered Harrogate.
It’s still a win in my...
Question for anyone who knows… I’ve been offered a grade 2 signaller position at Harrogate but I’ve just seen grade 3-7 positions are open for applicants at York ROC… obviously if it’s possible I’d rather go to the ROC at a higher Grade.
Is it going to go against me if I apply for the ROC after...
Hi mate, I heard back the next day via email but that might’ve been a fluke.
I struggled with the dots too mate, honestly don’t think I got more than half of the dots correct but I still passed so maybe it’s in you’re head.
Congrats to you too bud! I’ve just sent off all my acceptance stuff and just waiting on a date for a medical. You local to Harrogate then? I originally wanted Wakefield but don’t get a choice on who accepts you.
Congratulations bud. Harrogate line is what I’ve been offered too and same start date! Probably will be on the same course.
I work that line as a conductor atm so know the area, poppleton, hammerton or cattal are what I suspect you’ll be working. It’s semaphore signals too pulling big old levers.
Ah right. I thought they were crossing guards or something? It also advertised York outstations which I assumed poppleton etc would come under York, I would’ve thought it would be Harrogate north, starbeck or knaresborough. Either way I’ll be trying to transfer to another box after the 52 weeks...
Thanks bud they did mention about the 52 weeks.
Does anyone happen to know what grade Harrogate is? Or if there’s a way to find out the grade of each signal box?

Don’t lose hope just yet bud. I interviewed a week before you so maybe they’re just calling people in order.
Out of...
Funny enough about an hour after I posted this I got the call. Official job offer based on outcome of a medical etc so good news!
Only issue I’ve stumbled into is they’ve offered me Harrogate. In my application it asked my preferred locations which were Wakefield, knottingley and Selby...
Hi guys, first time posting on here.
I’m currently a conductor in Yorkshire and recently had my interview for grade 2 signaller multiple locations around Yorkshire (knottingley, Wakefield, Selby York areas). I haven’t heard anything in 2 weeks which I’m sure isn’t uncommon, but I wondered if...
