Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

The settlement was offered by the company prosecutor for TIL. TFW have no involvement in TIL cases anymore. No legal representative reached out to them- it appears they just reassessed my case and looked at the most recent letter I sent. I shall be confirming that the case is no longer listed.

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

Hi all, this morning has taken a turn for the good! I received a letter in the post saying that the case will be discontinued if I pay £368- I immediately paid it via their phone line. The prosecutor could see that I had no previous convictions and that the conviction would have a detrimental...

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

I see. In the circumstances that TIL have provided incorrect evidence would it be more advised to plea 'not guilty'? I am also considering writing to TIL again offering to pay a greater sum than the proposed amount in the summons (as well as reiterating that conviction would be damaging to my...

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

I spoke to two law firms this morning who both seemed to imply that pleading not guilty would be more damaging as TIL already hold the facts that I did not have a valid ticket. They said that their solicitors are able to send a letter persuading them to not take the case to court, but is that...

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

Thank you. I will enquire about getting a solicitor (though I really cannot afford it). I can see it would be beneficial. The case is in less than two weeks so am in a rush about what to do

I am also puzzled on why they are stating that the fare was £118. For an off peak ticket (which is when I travelled) it is £38 with a 16-25 railcard (which I have) and £58 without.

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

Unfortunately, I won't have a solicitor. I am however getting legal advice next week so I will see what they suggest. I am unsure of how to proceed now- should I send an email stating that their evidence is incorrect? Would the matter be discontinued that way? Or should I wait till court and...

It might still be worth emailing them perhaps on the matter?

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

Do you think it is worth writing an email to them about this today? Or as you say approaching them on the day in regards to the matter?

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

Hi all, The summons arrived today and TIL are taking me to court in 2 weeks. I have attached some pictures of the summons- I am in need of help ASAP. As it stands I will not have a solicitor but am in the process of getting legal advice from my university. Advice on how to proceed would be great...

Thanks. I am unsure of the exact profession I wish to go into but it would probably be business related.

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

My University does offer legal advice through the student's union which I will be exploring and will hopefully prove useful. I have just emailed TFW customer services too, though I doubt anything will happen at this stage.

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

From what I understand, you don't have to declare 'spent' convictions to employers. I do not want to go into a legal profession so I am hoping this will be okay

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

Thanks for the advice. I have just emailed TFW Customer Relations but I doubt they are able to do anything at this stage. I am able to get free advice with a lawyer at my University Student's Union which may prove to be useful.

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

Thanks all for your input, I made my response much shorter and clear about the times and types of ticket etc. Unfortunately today I received an email back from TIL saying 'As previously advised this matter is now proceeding to Magistrates Court. You will be receiving a summons pack in due...

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

I have been in contact with TFW regarding the case who say that 'TIL will not pass on cases to us. You will need to speak with TIL directly regarding their case with you'. So seemingly, I do not have the chance of settling with the transport company themselves? I thought they were the ones...

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

Thanks for your reply. I used the trainline app and thought that my ticket would no longer be valid because I would have to get a later train from Reading. I don't think the ticket was flexible but at the time I was stressed and tried changing it. It did not appear on the app that I had refunded...

Transport Investigations taking me to court *settled*

Hi all, I travelled from Egham to Cardiff a couple months back and due to a broken down train causing a delay at Reading, I thought I needed to change the time of ticket but in turn refunded it by accident (trainline). Upon arriving at Cardiff Central I was informed that my ticket was invalid...
