I’ve only ever had an issue using my Leicestershire CC Disabled pass on Stagecoach Newcastle. Was getting the 30 into town from my mum’s and the jobsworth driver insisted that it wouldn’t work because it was from outside the area and wouldn’t listen to me telling him that wasn’t right. He made...
To be fair, as a deaf person, there are different spectrums of deaf.
There is Deaf, which usually means profoundly so, and deaf which usually means hard of hearing. I’m deaf with a small d, so I am (very) hard of hearing but I can hear some. I do use AirPods but often sound will leak as I need...
There’s an Asda behind Nuneaton station. About a two minute walk. It also contains a McDonalds. Last time I was there I was on my way to Liverpool- I often take my own food with me due to cost/allergies etc.
I managed to do a reasonable sized shop and get there and back within 25 minutes (I’m...
I remember the 99- I used to catch it from Coalville every morning to work in Nottingham. This was 2007- I left that job in autumn 2008 and got a job in Coalville which was much closer to home. I seem to recall the bus still ran when I left there but I don’t think it lasted too much longer after...
I did an alternative route on Saturday from Newcastle to London due to the LNER strike.
LNER train- 95 (I have a railcard)
XC to Sheffield and then EMR to London- £58.
This involved several split tickets but was nearly half the price of the LNER.
LNER still saying do not travel.
I’m now going Newcastle-Leeds with TPE, then Leeds- Sheffield with Northern, and Sheffield-Leicester with EMR for my trip home to Leicester from my mum’s in Newcastle.
Original trip was NCL-DON with LNER, DON-SHF with TPE, then SHF-LEI EMR.
It’s going to take...
I caught Covid on a very crowded, filthy CrossCountry train. I definitely didn’t want that!
(I suspect I wasn’t the only one as the train was so crowded no-one could move, and there was someone continually coughing and spluttering standing nearby)
I have to say I’m guilty of a) using speakerphone and b) talking loudly if I do use the phone. I am very hard of hearing so I cannot hear the phone without some kind of amplification. However I use my AirPods wherever possible, although granted I can’t always tell how loudly I am talking. I’m...
I’ve got a Leicestershire County Council ENCTS pass and I never use it in London.
By the time I get on a bus I’ve usually hit the Oyster contactless cap for the day anyway so I find it easier just to tap.
I once got on a bus in London with my brother and mum, both of whom also have non-London...
Thank you! I unfortunately just missed the train from Corby so I chose to wait for the next train which happened to be the ‘Meridian’ type which had come from Nottingham.
I didn’t see anyone apart from the dispatcher but I’ll bear it in mind next time thanks. :)
If you can see someone is visibly disabled and might appreciate a seat, please do ask.
I had the misfortune to be on a couple of sardine tin EMR trains on Saturday. The first was so spectacularly awful that after getting on at Leicester I bailed at Kettering (I had split tickets at Kettering...
The Beaver Bus in Leicestershire always made me giggle. First it was Catch the Beaver- then it changed to Ride The Beaver which seemed to stick around for an uncomfortably long time
I might have to knock it on the head then- there’s no way on this earth I can afford £52. I do have a railcard though.
Edit- just seen the time of the last direct train. I should be able to make that fortunately.
