I thought this would be interesting to see what peoples' favorite trains are. Only one rule really:
They have to had been introduced to service between 2010-2019
To me it makes sense for the 379s to displace the 387s on Great Northern as well as getting rid of as many 365s as possible, so more of the 387 can transfer to Southern and start to replace the 313s
And I doubt the 379s would get any send off, yes they are native to the route but there only around 8 years old so there isn't much of an iconic status there either.
I heard August 2020 is the leave date for the 360s.
I doubt the 720s will be ready by then but I reckon the 745s would be.
Could the 745s displace the 379s so they could cover the loss of the 360s when the time comes?
Also the 360s are due to get a good upgrade (so it's said) to include WiFi, tables and obviously a higher top speed.
I reckon they chose the right option because they are well built trains and once refurbished will be even better.
It's interesting too see what others say!
The Class 360s were built for First Great Eastern in 2002/3.
They are due to transfer to EMR for services to Corby out of Kings Cross next year,
But were 360s the right option?
Could 379s be a better option?
That could turn out to be a problem.
If the 379s find a new home, and the 360s have left, there will be plenty more Class 321 and 317 short forms to come.
The 745s will probably be in service soon enough, so they can directly replace the 379s, which means the 379s could cover for the 360s when...
