Saw a Europhoenix class 37 pulling a 323 through Mexborough today, but unfortunately didn't get the number from either.

I think it must be an "Emporer's clothes" thing, I don't understand either.

From what I hear the loudest whine comes from the driver, after being forced to drive a 66.

*Sad b****** alert. There's a lot of engine snobbery about. I work on a lot of different kinds of mechanical handling equipment, my own employer sells forklift trucks which have a DOHC Mitsubishi "Evo" engine fitted. The world market leader (Toyota) fits an aging model of overhead valve engine...

*Pedant alert* That engine is actually more popular in the Ford Ranger pickup truck. I think the main problem is the lack of thought that went into cooling, rather than the origin of the power unit.

Which units are working the Penistone line now? It was previously rumoured that 3 car 150s would be working it, due to the short platform being used at Huddersfield.

Saw this one when I got to work this morning, more interesting than a 150 on it’s way to Sheffield. Having said that, I later saw a stock movement from Hull to Sheffield and it was a 150 leading a 170. Is it wrong to get excited by that?

It was due to go back sooner, but got cancelled. I had a stroke of luck and caught it passing when I went out to get something from my van. Both loco and EMU looked good.

I frequently see locomotives on their way from Belmont Down Yard to Toton TMD for maintenance and lots are in pairs or more on the same run. Whenever a class 66 and a class 60 are together, it always seems to be the Class 60 leading the consist. Why is this? I would have assumed that the newer...

Bugger, I was working inside at the radiator firm and I missed that going past. I saw it on RTT and guessed what it would be, but had to work in the warehouse.

It was on Sheffield to Hull and back today. This probably has no bearing on where it will end up this weekend, I just like to see trains that are being talked about on here. The little picture on RTT shows it in the new livery, but it’s definitely still in faded purple.

Please see my previous answer for my thoughts on the class 70, I can’t find any redeeming features. Maybe ease of maintenance due to all of the removable panels?

Add me to the list who dislike the class 70, it looks like a train that Homer Simpson would design if he got an episode as a train designer. I don’t mind the 67, but agree that the design doesn’t look quite finished.

I saw it heading through Mexborough and looked it up on RTT. It was down as an ECS move from Etches Park to Doncaster Robert Rds shed. Sorry I can’t shed any light on why, I’m used to seeing mainly old locos going to that destination.

Either 180110 or 18011 passed through Mexborough earlier, I thought it looked quite tidy in the outgoing livery. I think the new livery looks horrible by comparison.

I saw 006 on an ECS move from Doncaster to Sheffield earlier, would that be a training run? There was a similar trip a few days ago, but I didn’t catch the number.

I saw 60029 passing Mexborough on it’s way to Belmont, then just after midday it went back the other way. It was solo both ways, which was strange. It did look nice with it’s new grey paint job.

It all got a bit strange on the MIA/Cleethorpes service today, some services actually started at MIA (not Piccadilly) and ended at Doncaster. There were also a lot of services down to a single unit.

Nice one woodhouse122! You must have been on platform 1, whilst I was working below track level outside the radiator factory. I noticed fgwrich got the vehicles in order.
