One positive (if you can call it that) is there are only two serious injured and no fatalities. Carriages look pretty much intact after derailing and tipping over down the embankment.
Scary for all those involved and huge applause for the emergency services and rescuers.
I once saw a scotsman put his hand into his wallet and pay for a round of drinks. I kid you not.
Jokes aside, would love to see the Northern lights from a plane or further north from where I am now. Seen a few meteors in the night sky.
Love to be in a proper total eclipse. When we had one in...
He needed to use "transport" as he was going from somewhere to somewhere.
I am assuming he was flying somewhere as he was travelling to Heathrow. Where was he flying? Did he mention any environmental concerns about flying?
Does he have similar concerns when new roads are being built?
Very poorly worded especially if you are not familiar with the different operators or do not use the lines that often.
I want to go to Hastings in East Sussex which also happens to be in Sussex and on the south coast.
Both operators go to Hastings. Do some tickets specify which route to take...
Yes but take yourself away from knowing the railway and what should have happened. What did happen? What could have happened is being speculated on in this thread.
We know the driver was an amazon delivery driver. He is on a tight schedule. He needs to get to other side of the tracks. He is in...
Agree that it is relevant.
Although the telephones are high vis, it seems that the telephone boxes were missed.
Be interesting as to WHY they were missed or not used?
Mobile phones were used? People think the phones are exclusively used by railway staff?
A lot of unknowns here.
Also a lot of signs which may have contributed to information overload so won't take a blind bit of notice as to what they say or mean
We don't know if the driver that passed, if he spoke English and/or to a degree that could decipher what any of the signs said.
If he...
Quite obvious! Why put that phrase into the byelaws?
And what is the correct manner if the barrier does not open automatically with a valid ticket and/or an AUTHORISED member of staff is not about?
So going back to the OP question, nothing would happen in truth, if we going down the BETTER...
100% on the last bit. Says so much. The weather is a bit wild today and may affect your journey.
On saying nothing, is really a stupid, IMO. The amount of pelters the TOC's would get if a train was delayed or cancelled.
Perhaps they could put a windmill on top of the train to power it! So the faster the train went the more power it produces.
.... Perhaps I haven't thought this through properly. The hastings line and its gauge limits the where the windmill can be put.
Was on a Brighton - Ore train a couple of months ago. The train was delayed coming out of Brighton (think it was over 20 mins). As we were approaching Hastings, the conductor (or whatever they are called now) announced that the train was terminating at Hastings.
A chap who used to be employed...
