To be honest it's quite tricky to fit 3 people in them anyway unless (a) at least two of you are very friendly (b) at least two are fairly slim or (c) at least one is a child
I've no experience of the southbound train but I was on the 05:40 KGX-Leeds a few months ago and at a guess I reckon there was probably 50-60 people on it when it left KGX.
You would do at the ungated Doncaster (£72.70) though...
Indeed, if you were going to Wakefield all you'd have to do is buy a single DON-WKF (£7.10) to do the gateline. Zero chance of any issues and £19 in total.
The question was "Scotrail services that enter England". Clearly there is an overlapping service in Scotland between Scotrail and LNER, and also between Edinburgh and Dunbar with TPE, but that wasn't the question.
The only Scotrail service that enters England is the GSW and they're the only TOC on that route. I suppose there may be occasions when there's a blockage on the WCML north of Carlisle and people want to use it vice TPE or Avanti.
The problem with OAs is how few services they run, though. This is an extreme example, but if I'm standing at Doncaster waiting for the 12:09 to King's Cross and it's cancelled, there isn't another one for five hours (17:06). If I'm on LNER and my train is cancelled, there's another one in...
I can also foresee ordinary passengers who have just read the headline on this one (and not the detail) ending up having issues where one of the operators is OA, especially on Grand Central and Lumo West Coast.
3-cars are daily occurrences on the Redcars.
I believe the 18:44 and 19:44 MIA-Redcar are actually booked 3-car, and the diagram that starts 07:44 MIA-Redcar is 3-car more often than not.
The first 185s were introduced in 2006 and will therefore be 28 years old in 2034. I don't think a 50-strong fleet with 100mph capability will be slated for withdrawal at that point given their flexibility.
Well indeed. I read the other day that if the Brexit vote was to be re-run tomorrow, and everyone who voted the first time voted the same way again, it would fail this time.
Well at this rate 34067 might not be doing the Waverley either, as it has failed today with a hot box on the Dalesman. Perhaps some railtour companies need to look at sourcing their steam locos from somewhere other than WCRC.
In the past, minor accidents that don't result in any injury very rarely appear in any accident reports; I have been on a train involved in a low speed collision (1982) and witnessed another (1985), and neither appears in any documentation from the time.
Aye, well, we don't really consider Middlesbrough to be proper North Yorkshire anyway. Mumble mumble Teesside *inaudible* summat Cleveland grumble Ben Houchen. You get the idea.
But when Brian's vote puts a bunch of far-right bigots in charge of people's lives, that makes him no better than them.
Old German saying: "If there's a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there not disagreeing with him, you have a table with 11 Nazis."
Oh no. Restore and co. want to get rid of everyone who isn't White British, regardless of how long they've been here.
Reform are actually quite similar, but you won't find them admitting it.
I was on a crowded Northern service yesterday and the conductor said over the PA "there are a few single seats in the front coach, so if you'd like to make a new friend today that's where to go".
And yet this morning's first Manchester-Leeds service was a single 195/0, and the conductor had to apologise for the crowding "as we're missing some carriages".
