    EMR Regional and Connect refurbishments

And the declassified first class too! I guess if it going it removes what would have been an added complication in the refurbishment programme and a replacement 158 could be sourced which has same layout to the rest of the 158 fleet which means a uniform fleet of 26 which again makes...

    SWR Diesel Fleet Refurbishment

Not sure why the standard class seat hand grips are yellow? when they are blue in other 159s and the rest of the south western fleet?

    EMR Regional and Connect refurbishments

Its may look “dated” but has and continues to be still reliable way of displaying information on the 360s as well as the others listed. I am surprised they went to the effort of changing it on the 360s when it was not a problem to begin with.

Lack of train orders in the next five years & what should be done about it

It is not really surprising though is it? Not when in the past 10 years we have seen TOCs order an exceptional amount of new rolling stock across the country. I could see us getting to a point where rolling stock orders might dry up for little a bit of time but I guess at the end of the day...

    December 2026 Timetable Change

I heard on another thread that the plan was that LNR would take over WMRs current path via Willenhall and Darlaston and the WMR Shrewsbury service would therefore return to running via the Stour Valley instead? Glad to see this was incorrect and Willenhall and Datlaston will have 2 tph

    Class 376 refurbishment 2025/2026

It does beg the question why has it taken this long for the 376s to get refurbished / refreshed in the first place. This really should have happened years ago when SE were refurbishing the 375s

    172331 - revised livery

It has been mentioned in interview, Tony Miles had with the WM trains Deputy MD in the recent July 2026 edition of modern railways that the 172/1 refurb work will be taking place in the latter half of this year or at least starting. Can be found on page 55. Good to hear that something is...

Potential new service from Birmingham to Manchester Airport

According to an interview with the deputy MD of West Midlands Trains in the July issue of Modern Railways it seems the plan regarding the birmingham to manchester airport via Stoke service has changed and are expecting the Birmingham to Crewe leg to start with the December 26 timetable change...

    EMR Regional and Connect refurbishments

Agreed. Its taken a lot longer than expected sure but the refurbishment of the 360s is definitely a lot better compared to the LNRs 350s and SWRs 450s which refurbishments were nearly as good as this

How long will the Class 158 & 159 soldier on for?

SWR should have done the 158s and 159s refurbishment years ago, whats the point of doing it now when the both fleets realistically will be going in the next 5 - 10 years.

West Midlands Trains "Destination Manchester" - will it happen?

People living near stations along the Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury line may benefit as it (depending on timetabling) would be an easy change at wolverhampton to get to the airport. Shrewsbury however less so since TfW already provide good links with manchester

West Midlands Trains "Destination Manchester" - will it happen?

As mentioned in other threads when the topic of Stone station has come up. It cannot fit any train longer than a 4 coach 350 due to a) the signal position on platform 2 and b) the risk of trains on platform 1 blocking the junction that links up with the fast line used by avanti, its completely...

West Midlands Trains "Destination Manchester" - will it happen?

Personally, I would welcome this service as a cheaper alternative to get to birmingham and easier access to manchester airport and means the crewe via stoke is no longer just a small shuttle requiring changes to actually get anywhere useful. LNR have been talking about this for a long time...

222 contract for Scotrail: updates (not speculation)

I’m surprised 104 is going now. Had assumed it would be one of the last to move northwards.

First Rail Stirling (Lumo) Rolling Stock

Leave it with EMR? A full 7 coach train is more useful to another company than 3 spare coaches.

First Rail Stirling (Lumo) Rolling Stock

Rather than taking 4 sets of 7 coaches and 1 set of 5, surely it would have made better sense to have 222001 - 003 and have 005 and 006 which are 5 coaches then you only have to remove the 3 spare coaches from 001 - 003 to increase 005 and 006 to 6 coaches and then only need to send 1 spare...

TPE Class 802 1st class yellow stripe

No all of them have their own system though. There are already at least 4 TOCs which also already follow the system of designating green for cycle spaces and blue for disabled spaces. The main difference between them is the shades of green and blue each TOC uses. It is a bit more of a common...
