Wasn't the electric wiring for the line cancelled and Grayling the minister at the time said battery powered trains were imminent and would be used instead
No great loss perhaps they should have kept Jake Berry as chairman .Talking of chairmen George Osborne is the northern powerhouse chairman and it looks like his own govt are giving him the run a round is it all a epic failure now and the mess will have to be sorted by the next govt

I have used the ALR to travel on the Highland Chieftan from Kings Cross to Inverness and return next day to travel to Newquay Cornwall and used the Spirit of Scotland on a separate trip to explore Scotland. The Highland line and Far North line are well worth doing
Yes excellent show well worth the trip from Warrington.Hornby probably ducked out of attending the show to avoid answering any awkward questions about their price increases and new model delays.I am still waiting on a preorder for a Scotrail class 153 more than a year ago!
I remember it happening for the rugby league cup final at Wembley several years ago over August bank holiday.Warrington hired a train class 67 top and tailed with mark 3 coaches took ages to reach Wembley and five hours to get back home so friends told me.
