    Great Western Electrification Progress

I had a look yesterday, and all 4 lanes seemed to be close to completion west of Severn tunnel station, thou i suspect that this ends at, or around the point where the lines go under the M4 motorway. At undy, there is still a short gap where piling was competed friday, and is the same in Magor...

I was up that way walking my dog this morning, and i noticed the following, firstly the tensorex where the instalations finish, has aquired a set of tensioning rings. Also a run of earth cables has gone up on the up main. Again this is from a tensorex boom, but towards the severn tunnel it`s...

The only reasons that the portals can apear to be at right angles to the track, is depenent on the ange from which the picture is taken. Which cn be decieving i9 must admit. Though i am suprised that they only lifted one boom over the duration of the blockade though

    Great Western Electrification Progress

Whilst on a recent journey fromn Newport to london, i noted that the class 800 that i was on, remained under diesel power until Didcot before switching to electric. I seemed to be a similar thing on the way back, being diesel after Swindon. Does anyone know why the usage of the overhead wires...

A lot of piles have now been done, although there is still quite a bit to be done in the newport area. I recently had a letter from network rail that they expect all piling to be complete by the end of July.
