GWR were 'encouraged' by the DaFT to go for the same interior on the 802s as on the DaFT specced 800s in the name of 'standardisation' hence the same drab colour scheme and lack of a Standard class Buffet.
Um no need to put yourself down, getting ANY job on the railway is an achievement and you should be proud of yourself, there are far more people who fail than succeed!
Why do you assume it will be quicker?
Distributed power can put more power down simply because you have more points of contact to transfer the power to the rail, once above about 40mph its pure grunt that takes over and the HST has more power available.
I would very much like to see a drag...
Which leads to the 'My train was delayed because the driver wanted a cup of tea' headlines.
Of course the same people would never moan about a lorry, bus or coach driver taking their legally required breaks but they expect us to just keep going, but then driving trains is only pulling levers...
For now, wait until the ThamesLink services start in anger and then we will see who is being comical!
But my post was about the future so I am obviously wrong.
They can uprate the engines while the train is in service via wifi, or derate it if the mood takes them, unfortunately the radiators on the 700kW ones are smaller than the ones on the 940kW so the 800s eventually overheat due to lack of cooling capacity, thats why it is so expensive to 'uprate'...
Which hill were they going down to reach 120mph and how long did it take to reach the speed.
My observations are that acceleration from 80mph onwards is rather pedestrian to put it mildly and the slightest hill has the speed falling off very quickly.
Why were the costs so high on GWR electrification?
Once you answer that question you will see that the actual problem stems from Government/DaFT policy although Network Rail could have said something sooner, but you dont bite the hand that feeds you do you?
Where were Network Rail supposed to find the thousands of qualified staff to carry out the electrification in the timescale dictated by DaFT?
This is DaFTs problem because they didnt allow NR the time to recruit and train suitable people.
Its a joke about the Heathrow Express service (which are nearly always empty) always getting priority.
The order you list was correct but isnt anymore, on the MML the Thameslink services will take priority over EMT services so they can get to the core on time (not that it will work anyway)...
Not yet, as it is a variation to the specification it has to be agreed who pays for the upgrade and increased maintenance costs over the life of the trains.
Hitachi are rubbing their hands together with all these variations the DaFT keep coming up with.
Has anyone seen what the new leasing...
What an absolute load of rubbish.
The only bit which is correct is that the engines are capable of producing more power, but then, so is basically every engine used in a rail application.
Why is it that when I put the train supply on the engine revs increase?
Why is it that when I increase...
So you are saying I am wrong/blind and/or deaf then.
They do have the same engines but they are set at 700kW not the full 940 so they are a lot (and I do mean a lot) slower than a HST.
There are plans to upgrade them to the full 940kW but as far as I am aware the change to the contracts...
There are hundreds of places that are classed as low adhesion all year round, the reasons are many and varied, a cynic might say it is a way to transfer blame for an overshoot/slide through onto the driver because they should have allowed for the known poor rail adhesion, not that I would of...
